Preface

This manual describes the Neelin-Zeng Quasi-Equilibrium Tropical Circulation Model (QTCM), developed at the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Primary development of the QTCM was done by J. David Neelin and Ning Zeng. The original driver was written by William Weibel. Alistair Adcroftgif provided the direct Poisson solver used in the QTCM. Chia Chou developed a cloud/radiation package used in the model. This manual was written by Johnny Lin, Ning Zeng, and J. David Neelin.

Although this model must, by necessity, be offered to the community on an ``as-is'' basis, with no warranties given or implied, we earnestly desire comments and suggestions to help improve the model. Users are asked to please notify us of any bugs they find in the model, as well as to provide suggestions for improving the model. Corrections to and suggestions for future additions to the manual are also requested. The QTCM development team can be reached in care of:
