Conference focus:

Radiation Belt workshop in Sankt PetersBurg will bring together radiation belt experts from different countries to discuss the dynamical evolution of the radiations belts. Recent modeling and observational studies will be presented in the workshop. We will discuss the complex behavior of the radiation belts resulting from the competition between acceleration and loss processes and coupling processes between the radiation belts and other plasma populations.

Scientific program (topics covered):

  • Couplings between plasmasphere, ring current and radiation belts
  • Resonant scattering by VLF / ELF waves
  • Source populations of the radiation belt electrons
  • Acceleration and loss by ULF waves
  • Influence of the solar wind on the radiation belts
  • Origin of waves
  • Coupling between radial transport and local processes
  • Combining models and observations
  • Innovative methods and tools for data analysis

    Invited speakers
    This workshop is invitations only.
