Reanalysis TELECON Notes
Date: August 08, 2009 13:30 PDT
Attending:
Yuri
Marianne
Andrei
Geoff
Reiner
Mike
Agenda:
1) THEMIS - LANL intercalibration and Mike Hartigner's visit to LANL during the summer
2) Comparison of LANL and UCLA reanalysis
Notes:
Cleaning data by Mike:
-Automatically removes the sun light contamination
-Sun light contamination in SST data is not that important, results almost identical before
and after removal
Data used in the model:
GEO 95
GEO 80
LANL next best
GPS third best
POLAR prob best, However, could be more uncertain than geo: POLAR is pretty far off
equator, and thus the field line tracing is more uncertain which is needed for calculations of
the adiabatic invariants.
What should be the criteria for saying the model is a success? Within 70%?
-Remove things that may be causing differences.
-Calculate the last closed drift shell and throw away all the PSD beyond that.
Next meeting:
August, 20.
Suggested agenda:
Josef: new plots and new data.
